This has been my go to brand for years.
If you want to clean silver, gold, platinum and many precious & semi-precious gems/stones (that normally would require a separate, gentler cleaner) you don’t have to: this product pretty much does it all.
I will say that while it cleans silver, for those pieces not rhodium plated or prone to heavy tarnish, you will be stuck doing what the rest of us have to do: using a jewelry polishing cloth.
It does help to keep silver pieces like those in airtight containers. Many jewelers keep them in tiny ziploc type baggies to slow down the tarnish rate.
However,eventually with time, and with all efforts to slow down tarnishing- silver does tarnish.
If you love silver, you learn to accept that this is pretty much the one drawback to this metal.
Another keypoint as to why I love Goddards: I will gladly use Goddard’s for a jewelry dip to clean the stones within in my silver piece, and then utilize a silver cleaning cloth to remove tarnish.
{My method is to remove all the tarnish- then put it into Goddards. Then you have a piece that is both clean and shiny!}
TRUST ME ON THIS SUGGESTION: The cloth is far more preferable to accomplish this task, than using the very stinky( sulphuric acid type smell-aka: rotten eggs) that comes with many jewelry cleaners meant to do only silver pieces.
I also learned of the danger of leaving a silver piece in liquid silver cleaner for too long a time. BE CAREFUL.
You have to be very aware of how long you are putting your silver jewelry in the silver cleaner fluid if you opt to go that route.
Pay attention- don’t get distracted or walk away.
Left in too long and anything with an antique finish will come off- the jewelry itself will feel very rough as well.
Your once antiqued looking silver will come out pretty much looking BLEACHED 
If this should happen to you, you might get lucky if you leave the piece out in the air until it naturally *antiques* from the tarnish that will eventually happen.
I ruined one ring by forgetting about it in a liquid silver cleaner till days later.
I just had no idea the chemicals were that harsh and I was horrified to see what happened to my ring. But I was too attached to the ring, to just assume I should toss it out.
Consulting a jeweler, I was told I could buy antiquing solution- or – leave it out in the open air and be patient. Really patient.
I chose the latter, and my ring actually returned to its original appearance. It seemed to take months, but my ring was back to the way it was -what a relief!
****Another important point to make: anything with marcasite in it- should NOT go in liquid cleaners.*****
They should be cleaned with a silver cloth.
If you put marcasite in a liquid cleaner( even one as good as this one I am reviewing) with time( and this varies), the marcasite will fall out.
Just a heads up, because many people are unaware that marcasite should be hand polished with a silver cleaning cloth.
It can be devastating to pull a piece of expensive marcasite jewelry from a liquid cleaner container, only to find multiple- if not all- marcasite pieces have fallen out.
I CANNOT PRAISE THIS PRODUCT HIGHLY ENOUGH AND ON THE PLUS SIDE, IT IS NOT A STRONG SMELLING CLEANER, COMPARED TO OTHERS.
PEOPLE WHO ALWAYS USED IT( LIKE MYSELF) MAY NOTICE LACK OF AVAILABILITY IN STORES NEAR TO THEM.
YOU ARE NOT IMAGINING IT- FOR SOME REASON IT HAS BECOME HARDER TO FIND IN STORES- WHICH IS WHY I WAS THRILLED TO FIND IT ON AMAZON AND BOUGHT 2 BOTTLES RIGHT AWAY.
( Not sure if it is an area shortage or certain stores are just not ordering this terrific product, but Amazon is now my source to buy Goddards.)
